Our Team

PCSC has an exceptional team, blending experience and know-how to provide a unique communication model that is highly practical for handling the media, making presentation and applying effective public relations (PR) techniques. Our consultants are one of the most senior batches in town. Each of us, either former or current media practitioner and/or presenter, possesses more than 25 years’ experience.

The affiliates include Mr Lee Kam-hung (Sing Tao Daily & Radio Television Hong Kong (RTHK)), Mr Chan Chun-ming (Commercial Radio Hong Kong and Hong Kong Economic Times), Mr Kris Chan (RTHK & The Standard), Ms Phyllis Chiu (Sing Tao Daily & Commercial Radio Hong Kong) and Mr Chan Po-chung (Phoenix Television) etc. They have been TV cum radio news anchor, news editors, chief editors, news producers or media trainers. Some of them even worked for bilingual media and/or both local and regional news organizations.

With our exposure and expertise, we have developed our consulting service and public communication & engagement programmes that are practical and highly effective to accomplish the goals and objectives of our clients.

1.   Miss Kathy Chan (陳少娟), Co-founder and Chief Consultant

Kathy has 28 years’ experience in the media and public relations. She has wide contacts with various professions, trades, public bodies and Government departments, as well as in the media and political circles.

Kathy started her career as a journalist in 1983, majoring in political and investigative news reporting. She won the Best General Story and Best Business Story Awards in 1984 and 1985. Kathy was the first working journalist being awarded a scholarship by the British Council for on-job English training in 1988.  She became a senior political assistant of Legislative Councillor, Dr Leong Che-hung from 1989 to 1994. She then switched to the field of public relations and public affairs; firstly serving Burson-Marsterllar (1994-5), then PA Professional Consultants Ltd (1995-6) and CK Lo & S Lam Ltd (1996-1998).

Kathy founded her own PR consultancy in 1998. The company was restructured and renamed as Public Communication Strategic Consultancy with the current partner, Mr Bernard Ho since late 2001.

In 2006, Kathy attended the Leading Professional Services Firm Programme at Harvard Business School. She shared a wide range of professional, geographical and cultural perspectives for running leading professional firms with senior executives from around the world.

Kathy graduated from the Communication Department of Hong Kong Baptist College in 1983 and obtained her bachelor degree in social science from Hong Kong Baptist University in 1996.

2.   Mr Bernard Ho (何品立), Co-founder

Bernard’s experiences as corporate training specialist and human resources study in the US reinforces formal training assessment and evaluation method used in PCSC. His managerial experience and education provide a managerial perspective to the PR consulting, training scenario development, project management, communication and management training. His experiences working in the US, Europe and Asia provide a global dimension to the way we consult, advise and work with our clients.

Bernard is also a Venture Partner at Shanghai Atlas Capital Ltd. Before that he was the Chief Operating Officer of a clean energy technology startup, MTPV Corporation in Boston. Raised millions in capital, set up lab facility, guided the development latest photovoltaic technology, opened China development center, and cultivated fortune 500 clients on product development for industrial waste heat market since 2006.

Before that Bernard spent sixteen years at Intel Corporation in numerous managerial roles in manufacturing, manufacturing engineering, finance, production planning, purchasing, and training. Bernard was a core team member of two $1.5B green field fabrication plants start ups in the US and Ireland respectively, including line management of 300 people and project management of a key phase of the plant startup.

Bernard was a Sloan Fellow and held a MBA from the Program in Innovation and Global Leadership from Massachusetts Institute of Technology, a MS in Industrial Engineering from Stanford University and a BS in Industrial Engineering from Iowa State University.

3.   Mr Lee Kam-hung (李錦洪), Affiliate Senior Consultant

Lee is the senior affiliate consultant and key speaker of PCSC’s training workshops on media skills, presentation skills, influencing and persuasion skills, motivation and inspiration. His lively presentation in media programmes, training workshops and public talks is always highly commended.

A veteran journalist for more than 30 years, Lee has been involved in the print media, radio and TV public affairs programme production. He was Chief Editor of Sing Tao Evening News and won the Best Reporter Award in 1982.

Since early 90s, Lee has been active in hosting radio and TV news and public affairs programmes produced by RTHK. He was the co-host of TV programme “Headliners”

(頭條新聞) and “Media Watch” (傳媒春秋); and co-host of radio PA programme “Talkabout” (「千禧年代」,前身為「九十年代」) and “Newsrama” (時事沙龍). He has also conducted news forums on Policy Address and Government Budgets in the past years.

In the training and education field, Lee is keen to share his views in talks and writings. Lee has hosted seminars and talks on EQ management for medical practitioners of major hospitals, especially during and after SARS syndrome in 2003. The talks received applauses from both the management and front-line staff members of public hospitals. Over the row on education reform, Lee has shifted his focus to the education sector and offered motivation talks to teachers, students and parents.

Kam Hung has also written a dozen of books on life and communication. His publications such as “26 Public Speaking Tips” and “Ten Lessons to The Future” are popular among young people.

He had been the co-host of “Morning News” (新聞天地)” of RTHK for more than a decade before he joined Digital Broadcasting Corporation Hong Kong Limited (DBC) (香港數碼廣播有限公司) in November 2011. Lee co-hosted a morning news programme under the same name for DBC until it closed in October 2012.

Lee is now Publisher and Chief Editor of Christian Times (基督教時代論壇周報). He is also the part-time lecturer of the EMBA Programme of The City University of Hong Kong.

4.   Mr Kris Chan (陳韋霖), Affiliate Senior Consultant

Mr Kris Chan is a veteran public relations expert with more than 20 years of solid experience in the industry, both in the media as well as in the communications fields.

Kris started out his communications career in the 1980’s as an Assistant Programme Officer with Radio-Television Hong Kong, where he worked both as a reporter and sub-editor for the Chinese channel. He had also been a senior reporter with the Hong Kong Standard.

Afterwards, Kris switched to Public Relations, majored in corporate communication for serving Hong Kong Productivity Council, The Better Hong Kong Foundation and Ocean Park. He has an expert in lobbying and issues management, particularly for public utility companies through his years with the world’s leading public relations company, Burson-Marsteller, during which he managed a wide range of public utility accounts. He founded an all-round public relations agency with other partners in 2000.

In recent years, Kris has also taken up teaching and training posts. Courses which he has designed and delivered include a writing skill workshop for senior staff of the Labour Department at MPS 34 or above, Public Speaking and Presentation Techniques for Corporate Communications for Hong Kong Baptist University, and Public Relations & Presentation Techniques for The Chinese University of Hong Kong.

He had also conducted many media skills workshops for various government departments and bodies, including Hong Kong Airport Authority, Housing Department, Transport Department, Hong Kong Police Force etc.

Kris holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Administrative and Commercial Studies from the University of Western Ontario in Canada with double majors in Finance and Economics.

5.   Ms Phyllis Chiu (趙佩卿), Affiliate Trainer

Phyllis is a veteran communication professional with more than 20 years experience in the media field. She started her career in Sing Tao Daily (星島日報) for three years as news reporter and later joined the Public Affairs Unit of the News Department of Commercial Radio as programme host.

She switched to public relations in early 1990’ s and since then, has been actively involved in organizing and conducting media skills and other communication skills training programmes. To date, she has more than 10 years experience in communication training and has coached over a thousand people.

Phyllis was the chief staff of a PR consultancy firm until 2002. She is now the partner of a children education centre specializing in communication, and a freelance media consultant and trainer.

6.   Mr Chan Chun-ming (陳鎮明), Affiliate Trainer

Chun-ming is a veteran journalist for 30 years. He has a broad and in-depth understanding of public affairs and social issues. He has actively involved in broadcast journalism in the past two decades.

Chun-ming started his career as a reporter in Ming Pao in early 1980s. He joined the News Department of Commercial Radio in 1988. He was responsible for reporting feature stories, focusing on transport, housing and telecommunication policies.

In mid 1990s, Chun-ming worked for “Property Times” and was promoted from reporter to deputy news editor in 5 years. He was in charge of reporting and editing of the magazine, especially for property, housing and land policies.

In 2002, he returned to Commercial Radio as an editor, and was responsible for reporting significant issues. He left Commercial Radio in 2010 and is now a freelance media consultant.

7.    Mr Chan Po-chung (陳保聰), Affiliate Trainer

Po-chung is an experienced media professional with diversified experience in both print and electronic media on financial news and current affairs.

He started his career in the media in early 1990s when he worked as a translator at Hong Kong Times (新香港時報). After that, he joined Asia Television Limited as a sub-editor in the news department. In mid-1990s, Po-chung moved to the print media and worked in Hong Kong Standard as financial reporter. He was promoted to chief reporter in three years.

In 2000, he returned to electronic media and joined Phoenix Satellite Television. He has been the producer of a variety of programmes, such as on current affairs (小莉看時事,有報天天讀) and military topics (軍情觀察室). He was the Supervising Producer of the station until May 2010. He is a guest host of RTHK’s programme “Free as the Wind” (講東講西). Currently Po-chung is the Deputy Controller, Programme Creativity and Planning, Hong Kong Satellite Television (香港衞視節目創意及統籌部).
